IBMDC - International Business Management Discount Club
We had the pleasure to meet with the founder of IBMDC and discuss his needs for a software solution. He needed a "Tri-Lateral Compensation Plan," which compensates members of the organization for bringing in more people. In addition, he required a printable genealogy, a summary of commissions, a summary of the sources of commissions, and application forms. We were even able to help him tweak his compensation plan so that he wouldn't give out more money than would be brought in under certain circumstances.
This is what we did for IBMDC: we designed a database that would be maintainable through the software. This database collects information about IBMDC's personnel and can compute stats based on different attributes. It allows the compensation for the different levels to be changed while preserving the previous data's integrity. We tracked income by person by month and created reports for monthly checks and annual earnings, as well as the reports mentioned previously. In total he required four forms and four reports, which we gladly created for his business' use. Price: $2500. |

Sound Image Entertainment
Sound Image Entertainment needed a better solution for finding songs for their DJs, timing their lights, and printing song and request lists. Previously, their song data was stored in Microsoft Word in a very unorganized fashion. This presented a few problems: one, the DJ would have to print a copy of this for every dance and use it to mark which songs he wanted to play, which songs he had played, and any other important information; two, it was not a very fast way to find a song or an artist, and wasn't completely reliable; and three, it wasn't a very clean report to give to a current or potential client wishing to know what songs the DJ had in his repertoire. We were glad to be able to be of assistance.
The first thing we did for Sound Image was to convert their thousands of songs' CDs, titles, Artists and times into a database in a consistent format, and then we added a few additional fields: beats per minute, genre, notes, played, and a play list. These additional fields helped Sound Image's disc jockeys quite a bit. It would allow a lot better beat mixing because the DJ would be able to know the BPM of any song he might want to play. Another huge advantage was the play list field; now the disc jockey would be able to set songs to specific and multiple event categories, such as: play this song at a school or a wedding. Now he wouldn't have to spend a bunch of time before each event repicking which songs would be appropriate and writing them down.

Another feature of this program is the ability to control the timing of the lights. This is especially useful for new equipment. The disc jockey can set a duty on and duty off for a specific light, and the program will notify him when he needs to turn the light off so that it doesn't overheat. We also created three customizable song list reports so that Sound Image could have a professional report to show clients, an orderly way to have a backup on hand, and also a few options on how the reports should sort the data.
An advanced feature that they wanted their disc jockeys to enjoy was the ability to link databases together, so as to synchronize songs' information between these DJs. In addition to being able to type new songs into the program, they also wanted to have the ability to import from a variety of sources, including Microsoft Excel. This saves time in the data entry department and also prevents errors from creeping into the songs.
All in all, there were a dozen or so features including three reports, advanced search features, the ability to import from Microsoft Excel and other sources, synchronization to and from other users' systems, and custom lighting controls. Sound Image is free to distribute the software to as many DJs as the business can grow to accommodate. Price: $5000. They continue to think of new ideas that they want to see incorporated into the software and we are glad to help!
